bangin out heat on your phone is it possible?...

it's like this..for awhile now i been experimenting with recording and creating music on mobile devices. i might have used just about every available app out there (or at least the ones that caught my attention) some are so..so and some are actually good.part of my reason was curiosity the other part was necessity. i wanted to see if some of these apps lived up to the hype plus i wanted to know if i had to do production on the go what app would be the best. so here's my breakdown!

.
UP FIRST AKAI SYNTHSTATION

this caught my attention just by being associated with akai and when i saw the miniature mpc like pads i had to try it at the time of purchase it was 10bucks now it's $1.99 and there's a reason for that! although it looks cool i was disappointed. first of all you can't sample and it only comes with preset sounds(which sound pretty cool). and i ain't too crazy about the sequencer either i guess the best part is you can buy the synthstation25 keyboard controller for $99 and dock your iPhone to it (assuming you have one) all n all i expected more from this app!

NEXT UP TO BAT! MUSIC STUDIO. Now this app has a lot of potential! but to be honest it probably comes off better on the ipad. this app kinda reminds me of a miniature logic or garage band.but once again u can't sample but you can import your own sounds via wi fi also import & export sounds, midi. i think it's too much for the iPhone to handle tho so i recommend the iPad for this because this app is big and a hog!

UP NEXT! BEATMAKER BY INTUA
now this i like! this joint samples, edits, records, import & export sounds and midi via wi fi . beleive it or not from a software point of view more advance than the mpc ( yeah i said it!) works great on the iphone so i can only imagine what it's like on the ipad! it was my music app of choice until i got nanostudio!

which brings me to my pick of the litter NANO STUDIO
now this app got it all! it slices and dices it samples, edits , records , it imports & exports sounds ,midi sequences,it's compatible with the akai synthstation25 keyboard, you can upload your finished project to soundcloud directly from the app itself and best of all it works with other apps! almost as if you were using plugins

you can make your track in nanostudio import it into this app called 4track

or if you want to get deep witn your edits you can open files in this app called audioforge. it's like a miniature soundforge.that also allows you to import files from your ipod library

also another dope compatible app is guitarstudio this by itself is incredible! you can create dope riffs and import them into nanostudio and visa versa.
all the apps together are interchangeable and there's more depending on what your taste is.
so i guess the answer to the question is yes it is possible to bang out some heat on your phone. is it at the level of what you can do on your pc or mac? it's getting there. the more moblie devices improve the closer it's getting. all the apps that i mention on here are apple apps only at this writing. if they were available for droid it might be a different story. at the moment i have two devices my iPhone 3g and my Motorola atrix 4g which is far superior to my iPhone Lee Majors style "bigger, stronger, and faster!" if i had these app on that it would curtains! but then again who am i? just the supagenius right?
